Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026
Your reflections about yourself and your child are personal, and we treat them with care. At Aleli, we value your privacy and confidentiality. Your journal is not public, other families cannot see your entries, and we use safeguards to protect the information you share.
Here's what you should know about how your journal works.
Using Aleli without signing in
You can use the journal without creating an account. Your reflections remain in your browser on your device and are not sent to Aleli. Aleli does not keep voice recordings; only the words are saved.
If you clear your browser data or switch devices, you may lose these entries. If you later sign in, you can choose to add your existing reflections to your account.
Signing in with Google
Signing in allows your written journal to be saved and accessed across devices.
Google provides us with basic account information, including your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this to recognize your account and help keep it secure. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not keep any access to your personal Google account.
To help keep your account secure, each time you sign in we also record the IP address and the type of device and browser you're using.
Your synced journal entries and written reflections are stored using Cloudflare, our hosting provider.
Who can see your reflections?
Your journal is private from other families.
When you sign in and sync your reflections, Aleli's administrator can read those entries to better understand and support your experience in the parenting program.
People authorized to manage Aleli's hosting systems may also have technical access to stored information.
We do not make your reflections public, sell your information, or share it with advertisers. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies; Aleli uses cookies only to sign you in and keep you signed in.
How we protect your information
We use secure connections (HTTPS), Google sign-in, and account-based access controls to help protect your information and prevent other families from accessing your journal.
We also limit how your information is used: to operate the journal, support your participation in Aleli, and provide the features described in this policy.
Like any online service, we cannot guarantee absolute security, but protecting your information and respecting your confidentiality are important responsibilities we take seriously.
AI and voice recordings
When AI-generated titles are enabled, the text of your synced journal entries may be sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to create a short, descriptive title. Voice recordings are not sent to Claude.
Aleli does not keep voice recordings. When you record a reflection, only the words are saved:
- If you're signed in, when you stop recording, the recording is sent to Aleli's server and turned into written words by Cloudflare's Workers AI speech recognition. The recording is then discarded; Aleli does not store it.
- If you're not signed in, your browser's built-in speech recognition turns your speech into written words as you talk. Your browser may send your speech to its recognition provider, such as Google or Apple, to do this.
You can always choose to type instead. These providers may temporarily retain information according to their own privacy policies.
Your control over your information
You can review and delete individual journal entries at any time. For synced entries, deletions are also sent to Aleli's servers when your device next syncs.
Signing out removes your synced reflections from the app on that device. Anything that hadn't finished syncing stays stored in the browser, hidden, until you sign in there again.
You can delete your account by tapping the person icon and selecting Delete my account. This removes your account and its saved information from Aleli's active servers and the device you're using. Copies on other devices are cleared when they reconnect, although some unsynced information may remain stored locally.
Temporary copies may remain in provider backups or systems for a limited period according to their policies.
Children and families
Aleli is designed for parents and caregivers, not for children to use directly. We encourage you to share only the details about your child that are helpful for your reflection.
Questions or concerns?
If we make meaningful changes to how your information is used or shared, we'll update this policy and notify participating families.
